Crunchy and slightly tangy. This apple and carrot sambal is the perfect side with your next curry.
Cooks: 20 minutes Serves: 4 Level: Easy
Ingredients
- 2 carrots, peeled and grated
- 1 green chilli, finely sliced
- 15ml (1 tablespoon) lemon juice
- 15ml (1 tablespoon) vinegar
- 10ml (2 teaspoons) sugar, or to taste
- 3 small green apples, grated
- 2.5ml (½ teaspoon) salt
Method
- Add all the ingredients, except the apples and salt, to a small mixing bowl.
- In a separate small bowl, add the salt to the apples and set aside for 15 minutes.
- Allow the salt to draw out the excess moisture in the apples.
- Squeeze out the excess moisture from the apples, before adding it to the rest of the ingredients.
- Mix well and refrigerate until ready to serve.
- Serve cold.
Garnish
- with extra sliced green chilli and red chilli flakes

- perfect with any curry of choice
